Pleinmont Headland - print of mixed media piece by Cahir Cahill
£47.00
Original piece created using printmaking, charcoal and pastel. ARTIST STATEMENT: This piece was part of a broad body of work in response to the Pleinmont landscape. The changing of colours within the landscape through each season has notably guided my choice of colour. The dominant purples and reds are heavily inspired by the dark, saturated ferns that develop in the wetter stages of winter, opposing the burnt orange ferns of summer. Having been predominantly inspired by the poetic oeuvre of Cy Twombly, the work may not accurately depict a soaked Pleinmont headland, but rather I intended to harness the ‘feeling’ of being immersed within the landscape. Wind, foliage, birdsong, ferns rustling and colour all blend into one. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Aged 18 when this piece was created, Cahir was shortlisted for the SAF Students Prize, Guernsey in 2018 and 2020. Cahir has continued to maintain his creative interests alongside his studies at university in Scotland.
