ARTIST STATEMENT: This painting captures my two close friends, Jodie, and Elise. Warm and comforting tones of light were used in this oil painting to capture a sense of unity and friendship between the subjects. I intended to express the beautiful vulnerability that exists in opening yourself up to a friend. The subjects look outwards with suspicion towards the viewer, but they stand together, strong, and united.
ARTIST STATEMENT: Since being a sovereign art finalist in 2015 I went on to study art at A Level where my skills in oil painting grew. I then went onto study an undergraduate in Geography and am now completing a master’s in Marketing at The University of Bristol. Art has remained a big part of my life and I have continued painting over the years for pleasure but also as a form of self-expression. As I now look towards a more creative career in marketing, I am drawing on my background in art all the time and I hope to continue painting for the rest of my life.
